BLOWING THE ROOF OFF HOME PRICES

IF YOU were among the many South Africans who were tightly holding thumbs in the hope of winning the recent, big R110million Lotto draw, you might perhaps have considered yourself pretty well off, right?

Most definitely – but not nearly financially flush enough to afford what has been listed online, on the thespaces.com website, as the most expensive property to have sold globally last year.

It reports that three of the world’s priciest homes in 2017 were all in a single development at Mount Nicholson, which nestles on a rolling hillside, amid lush greenery, in Hong Kong.

Even more surprising is that, according to the same report, all three homes were bought by the same buyer!

The site reports that the most costly home sold there in 2017 fetched a massive $149 million. Multiply that by 12 (today’;s dollar-rand exchange rate) and the mind truly boggles!

The 9,000 sq ft property property, which reportedly sold in September last year, is said to feature a swimming pool, garden and a basement car park.

The other two hot properties sold in the same complex, to the same buyer as the most expensive home of the year, reportedly went for $76 million and $71million respectively.
